Prefer to V (thích một cái gì đó)
S + prefer + to V
E.g:
- I prefer to play soccer. (tôi thích chơi bóng đá).
- He prefers to drink beer. (Anh ấy thích uống bia).
Prefer something to something (thích thứ gì hơn thứ gì)
Cấu trúc:
S + prefer + V-ing + to + V-ing
E.g:
- I prefer playing guitar to singing. (Tôi thích chơi guitar hơn hát).
- I prefer eating cake to making it. (Tôi thích ăn bánh hơn là làm nó).
S + prefer + N + to N
E.g:
- I prefer laptop to television. (tôi thích máy tính xách tay hơn ti vi).

E.g:
- We prefer to drink beer rather than watch a movie in the cinema. (Chúng tôi thích uống bia hơn là xem một bộ phim trong rạp chiếu phim).

Cấu trúc Would prefer
Thích một thứ gì đó
S + would prefer + to V/N
E.g:
- He would prefer spaghetti. (Anh ấy thích spaghetti).
- I would prefer to drive at night. (Tôi thích lái xe vào ban đêm).
Thích thứ gì hơn thứ gì
S + would prefer + to V + rather than + V
E.g:
- I would prefer to drink coffee rather than drink milk tea. (tôi thích uống cà phê hơn là uống trà sữa).
- He would prefer to travel around the world rather than stay at home. (Anh ấy thích du lịch vòng quanh thế giới hơn ngồi ở nhà).
Muốn ai đó làm gì
S + would prefer + Somebody + to V
E.g:
- Dad would prefer us to hang out. (Bố muốn chúng tôi đi ra ngoài).
- I would prefer him to come early. (tôi muốn cô ấy đến sớm).
